Autumn trees with multicolored leaves reflecting in a calm lake under a partly cloudy sky.

The Pougue Pond

Woodstock, Vermont

Tucked just outside of Woodstock, Vermont, The Pougue Pond is one of those places where autumn feels amplified where the colors reflect twice: once in the trees, and again in the perfectly still water. I spent the afternoon watching the light shift across the landscape, each minute bringing out a new hue in the foliage. It’s the kind of scene that feels like a postcard, but more honest, more quiet, and more alive when you’re standing in it. Vermont’s autumn isn’t just a season it’s an atmosphere, a fleeting kind of magic that never feels the same twice.
