Sunset over a rugged coastline with cliffs and a beach, people walking along the shore.

Edge of the Pacific

El Matador State Beach Malibu, California

El Matador State Beach in Malibu is one of those places that feels both hidden and cinematic—cliffs tumbling into the Pacific, sea stacks catching the last rays of sun, and a haze that softens the line between earth and sky. I shot this as the sun began to dip, casting long shadows and bathing everything in a golden glow that felt almost surreal. There’s something about this beach—the way the light lingers just a bit longer, the way the ocean seems quieter here—that keeps pulling me back. It’s the kind of place that reminds me why I pick up a camera in the first place: to hold on to moments like this.
